Zimmerman: GUILTY AS CHARGED!!!

1:24 pm in Uncategorized by BigFurHat

Think Progress is breathlessly reporting that a middle-eastern co-worker said that Zimmerman called him a “fucking moron” on numerous occasions, as well as mocking him by talking in the voice of Jeff Dunham’s “Achmed the Terrorist.”

The interview reveals that Zimmerman was allegedly obnoxious.

Based on this, Think Progress is ready to drop the cyanide capsule.
TP manages to gloss over the fact that the interviewee says, “to be fair, if this was an all-Arab environment we would be making fun of the Asian guy.”
He also says that he weighed the costs of his job against beating the shit out of Zimmerma. Meanwhile Zimmerman never threatened him with violence or intimidated him physically.

At the end of the interview he said that the juvenile behavior got to the point where he was about to snap. Sorta like, hmmm, I dunno, being fed up with burglaries in your neighborhood?
This “witness” will never see the witness stand. If he does, this is an incompetent prosecution. I haven’t passed the bar exam, but give me 5 minutes with this witness and I will turn him into a witness for the defense.

Comedy Central: Conservative Hashtag Games Are Ruining Twitter

12:45 pm in Uncategorized by BigFurHat

Comedy Central:

Today Former White House Press Secretary Bill Burton attempted to start a hashtag game called #RomneyYachtNames. It’s so unfunny and forced, it’s exactly the kind of thing that would trend on Twitter. And it did, but not the way Bill Burton intended.

Conservatives hijacked the hashtag and soon started their own called #ObamaYachtNames. Never mind the fact that that barely makes sense.

Okay, let’s take a look at some of the “unfunny “and “non-sensical”:

Deb Fischer leads Bob Kerrey by 18 points in Nebraska

12:30 pm in Uncategorized by Cardigan

Hot Air

Granted, it’s a deep red state, but I’m surprised regardless. Kerrey served two terms in the Senate and another as governor so his name recognition is sky high; Fischer, meanwhile, was a distant third in the primary race behind Bruning and Stenberg as of just a few weeks ago. Can an almost total upstart crush one of the most successful Democrats in recent state history?

Apparently, yeah:

State Senator Deb Fischer holds an 18-point lead over Democrat Bob Kerrey in the first Rasmussen Reports survey of the Nebraska U.S. Senate race since her upset win in last week’s state Republican primary.

A new telephone survey of Likely Voters in Nebraska shows Fischer with 56% support to 38% for Kerrey who is trying to reclaim the Senate seat he retired from in 2001. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) are undecided.

Diabetic Sues Doctor After His Infected Penis Is Amputated

12:00 pm in Uncategorized by Cardigan

ABC News

A man who elected to have a penile implant in a Florida hospital is now suing his doctor after a post-surgical infection resulted in the amputation of his organ.

Enrique Milla, 65, who was reportedly deported from the United States last year back to his native Peru, has been testifying in court via Skype that the medical procedure robbed him of his dignity and manhood.

In a medical malpractice trial that began this week, Milla claims that his doctors should have known that he was not a good candidate for the procedure because of his diabetes and high blood pressure.

“This has been devastating, painful and embarrassing,” said Milla’s attorney, Spencer Aronfeld of Coral Gables, according to ABC’s affiliate WPLG.

Milla alleges that his anesthesiologist Dr. Laurentiu Boeru “failed to evaluate properly the risks of this procedure.” He first filed the lawsuit in 2009, naming Boeru and Dr. Paul Perito, the urologist who performed the surgery.

According to the Miami Herald, which obtained records that are not publicly available, Perito settled the case out of court.

“At the end of the day, he has to sit down to pee through a tube,” Aronfeld told the Herald.

Penile implant surgery is most commonly performed after all other treatments for erectile dysfunction have failed. It is also used to treat some cases of Peyronie’s disease, a condition that causes scarring inside the penis, leading to bent, painful erections.

Implant surgery comes with a risk of infection, which can occur at any time after surgery — in rare cases, even years later, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Greyhound bus beheader wins right to leave mental hospital

11:23 am in Uncategorized by Cardigan

USA today

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) – A man who beheaded and cannibalized a fellow passenger on a Greyhound bus in Canada won his bid to leave the grounds of the mental hospital where he is being kept, a criminal review board ruled Thursday.

The Criminal Code review board said Vince Li’s treatment team may grant him short escorted trips into the central Canadian city of Selkirk, Manitoba. The review board said the passes will start at 30 minutes and increase incrementally to a maximum of full days.

Li was found not criminally responsible for the July 2008 death of Tim McLean, a young carnival worker who was sitting next to Li on a bus near Portage la Prairie.

The board said the passes should only be granted if Li’s treatment team believes his condition is stable and that it would be “appropriate and safe for him to leave the locked ward.” He will have to be escorted at all times by a staff member and a security officer.

“It’s terrible. It’s disgusting,” Nadine McLean, the victim’s stepmother, said Thursday after she learned about the decision. “It’s kind of a waste going to the review board every year when he’s going to get whatever he asks for.”

Carol DeDelley, the victim’s mother, also called it unacceptable and vowed to continue her efforts to fight the law dealing with people found not criminally responsible.

“My son died this way to shed light on the issue,” DeDelley told reporters. “I’m not stigmatizing mental issues. If he’s doing well in a controlled environment with regularly administrated medications leave him there … but freedom for him? I don’t think that should ever be an option.”

The passes can be issued starting May 24.

Koch Attorney Slams Bashir: ‘Way Your Network’ Treated Us ‘Led to Death Threats Against Our Owners’

10:32 am in Uncategorized by Cardigan

Martin Bashir got a scolding on national television Thursday that everyone on MSNBC as well as within the parent companies Comcast and General Electric should receive.

During a contentious interview with the general counsel for Koch Industries, Inc., Bashir’s guest said, “The way that your network has handled issues with us, the way that a lot in the far-left media have handled issues with us, attacking us even when there’s no basis like with the Trayvon Martin issues, that situation, that has led to death threats against our owners” (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Romney gets Wright Wrong

10:18 am in election 2012, Issues, jeremiah wright, joe ricketts, mitt romney, republican strategists, super pac, trinity united church by mrcurmudgeon

As you’ve probably noticed, President Obama has wrapped himself and his ideology in the cloak of religion.

“I hear politicians talking about values in an election year,” said the president in a Vermont campaign stop last May. “Let me tell you about values. Hard work, personal responsibility — those are values. But looking out for one another, that’s a value. The idea that we’re all in this together. I am my brother’s keeper. I am my sister’s keeper. That’s a value.”

Actually, the reference Obama makes is a Biblical reminder that a family is responsible for one another. As I recall the Old Testament story, Cain was angry that God favored his brother Abel, finding his sacrifices more pleasing, and rewarding him with abundant crops and prosperity. In a fit of jealousy and rage, Cain killed his brother. When God later asked Cain the whereabouts of Abel, Cain flippantly answered with a question: “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

The Biblical reference Obama misused was intended to shame Cain for perpetrating history’s first class-warfare inspired murder.

That begs the question: “Where did President Obama learn his twisted version of theology?” The answer, of course, is that he took to heart the religio-politics of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, whose Trinity United Church of Christ Obama attended for twenty years.

“A group of high-profile Republican strategists is working with a conservative billionaire on a proposal to mount one of the most provocative campaigns of the ‘super PAC’ era and attack President Obama in ways the Republicans have so far shied away from,” said the New York Times.

What was it, you ask, that had the media all in a knot? It was a plan submitted to billionaire Joe Ricketts (founder of TD Ameritrade) to finance political ads that show the Rev. Wright as instrumental in helping Obama formulate his worldview:

“Our plan is to do exactly what John McCain would not let us do.

“Show the world how Barack Obama’s opinions of America and the world were formed. And, why the influence of that misguided mentor and our president’s formative years among left wing intellectuals has brought our country to its knees.

“The world is about to see Jeremiah Wright and understand his influence on Barack Obama for the first time in a big, attention-arresting way. He will draw the attention.”

After the Times story appeared, “… a political firefight erupted between the Obama and Mitt Romney campaigns over the [Times] report,” said the Wall Street Journal, “The Obama campaign attacked Mr. Romney Thursday morning for not quickly disavowing the proposed campaign. Mr. Romney later did, saying: ‘I repudiate that effort. I think it’s the wrong course for a PAC or a campaign. I hope that our campaigns can respectively be about the future and about issues and about a vision for America.’”

Seeing how damaging such a political ad was to the president’s re-election bid, the media – as it did in 2008 – intervened to prevent Republicans from linking Obama to his radical, race-baiting past. Romney’s quick denunciation of the Rev. Wright ad showed the GOP presidential hopeful to be as noble as was John McCain in 2008. That is to say – dumber than a brick.

The press denunciations even scared-off billionaire Ricketts. “Not only was this plan merely a proposal,” said a Ricketts spokesman in a written statement, “it reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects.”

I still think America’s worsening economic depression will lose Obama the White House, but establishment Republicans are flirting with disaster by waging yet another soft, Nerf political campaign.

But I guess it’s unreasonable to expect establishment Republicans to wage a battle of ideas … when there is so little room in their very thick skulls.

“Speedway Bomber” Brett Kimberlin . . . is a director and founder of the Justice Through Music Project, a seven year old Bethesda, Maryland-based 501c3 nonprofit entity. . . .
Kimberlin is the business partner of leftist blogger Brad Friedman … They are both involved with a group called Velvet Revolution which also receives funding from the Tides Foundation.

It’s Not the Same-Sex Marriage, Stupid

9:55 am in 2012 presidential race, Black voters, Editorials, Gay marriage, LGBT Issues, President Barack Obama by becca.lower

by David Limbaugh
TownHall.com
May 18, 2012

People have asked what Obama could possibly have been thinking to announce the final step in his “evolution” in favor of same-sex marriage right after another state resoundingly rejected the notion and despite the fact that most Americans oppose it.

Whether or not Joe Biden forced Obama’s hand on the issue, which I doubt, there is little question that Obama was going to make the announcement. The only question was when.

Many assume he decided to do it before the election to increase his fundraising among Hollywood liberals and other leftists. But all the funds in the world might not help if you are going to campaign on policies that are unpopular with the voters. So what gives?

The question isn’t how popular same-sex marriage is; it’s what percentage of people will pick their presidential candidate based on Obama’s announced change in position.

Everyone paying attention knew already that Obama favors same-sex marriage, and his actions — which should speak louder than his words — have strongly supported it, as his Justice Department has been at war against states outlawing the practice. Only certain trusting and naive people believed Obama when he said he was evolving — as opposed to pretending to oppose same-sex marriage for political reasons until he decided to make his announcement.

But his announcement did embolden and energize the LGBT community and its strong advocates. It looks as though it sparked an increase in his fundraising, at least for now, and it is likely that it will help intensify his turnout among social liberals and other strong leftists.

What about the downside? How many people did he alienate with this move? Well, some are saying that he threw the black community under the bus in favor of his gay constituency. But I’m betting Obama is banking on the fact that it will take a lot more than that to keep blacks from voting for him. So he took a calculated and probably minimal risk there.

‘Dem Bums’: Congressional Baseball Practice

9:51 am in Uncategorized by Breitbart Feed

“Those Were the Good Old Days”

Penciled into the lineup for June 28th at 7 p.m. in Washington Nationals Stadium, the
bipartisan Congressional Baseball Game’s history is oft ignored. We shan’t buck the
trend. Rather, let’s gawk at the aging glad-handers’ baseball practices that guarantee their
small ball spectacle constitutes an athletic eyesore and embarrassment to every weekend
warrior who doesn’t wake up reeking of schnapps wearing their mom’s prom dress.

“Two Lost Souls”

At times, life mocks art. In the Broadway play/film “Damn Yankees,” a middle-aged baseball fan sold his soul to become a Washington Senator. In Congressional Baseball, players sold their souls to become Washington Representatives. Precluded a second injection of diabolical steroids, Congressional baseball practice remains the sole, forlorn hope for transforming anile legislators into stellar athletes by game time.

“Who’s Got the Pain?”

7 a.m. tolls the pitiless practice hour. Bleary-eyed staffers put bloodshot-eyed members through their paces: pitching, catching, hitting, and shagging (fly balls). Absent from the regimen are wind sprints, as the Representatives are already long-winded and, regardless, would just make their staffers pinch run the sprints. Amidst the grunting and bunting, aching and “adjusting”, the members’ individual baseball abilities relegate them to one of three categories: Swingers, Shirks and Stiffs.

Swingers have retained a penchant for their youthful pursuits, if not their baseball skills. Dressed to the nines and white-knuckling their wood, Swingers strike provocative poses at the plate; invite passersby to join them for an overly friendly game of soft toss; and always wear a glove when tagging someone. When queried why they practice for and play in this charity game, Swingers balk as if asked for delinquent alimony payments: “It’s for the kids?”

As for Shirks, they aren’t really bad. They’re awful and embrace it. Shirks are identified by “jerseys” tailored merlot stained, “Say ‘No’ to Drugs” tank tops; “squeeze play” Sansabelt sweat pants; and souvenir “Boehner Invitational” golf visors. Shirkers’ participate for two reasons: drills help oxidize the last drops of complimentary Dom Perignon from the prior night’s Capital Grille “policy consultation”; and they dig the freebies at the game’s after glow.

Dead lastly, Stiffs are the poor bastards who pop up at practice because some sadistic jackass told them it make for “a fun photo-op.” Ineluctably, Stiffs’ ill-starred opportunism wreaks upon them a barrage of debilitating injuries, most commonly a bruised ego and/or an allegedly wild pitch to the “lower extremities.”

“Whatever Lola Wants”

Despite this motley amalgam of members, motives and “talents,” practices usually muddle through the evil hour: Swingers work on comely spectators; Shirkers work on their Blackberrys; and Stiffs work on their physical therapy. Only one thing throws a curve into the linear drudgery and near death experiences practice’s athletic clown cavalcade – Press.

Recently, the GOP’s baseball practice grounded to a halt due to a visit from News Channel 8 anchor and sports enthusiast Katherine Amenta. Credible sources insinuate that for an upcoming episode of View from the Capitol, this Snarkstress par excellence had designated for assignment an anonymous rat to out Congressional Baseball as just beer ball without the buzz.

Whiffing “earned media”, Swingers, Shirkers and Stiffs scurried to the camera like rats to cheese and – Voila! – Ms. Amenta’s mission was accomplished; and Congressional Baseball practice (and View from the Capitol’s ratings) slid to new lows.

“There’s Something about an Empty Chair”

Congressional Baseball practice’s box score of odd balls, bloopers and bruises, and the killjoys’ complaints about legislators wasting time occupying Ball Street, it’s fair to say the undertaking is by no means a homerun for democracy. But before giving Congressional Baseball the hook, ask yourself: Would you rather have “Dem Bums” sitting in the dugout inflicting pain upon themselves or sitting in the Congress inflicting pain upon you?

I thought so…

“Let’s play two!”

Two Grooms Does Not a Marriage Make

9:48 am in Bible, Christianity, Civil Rights, Civil Unions, Constitutional Rights, Editorials, Elections, Family, homosexual marriage, Judaism, Religion, same-sex marriage, social conservative, The President by Michael R Shannon

Homosexual marriage is the unholy product of a union between "living Constitution" and "living Bible" propagandists.

John Hawkins, proprietor of Right Wing News, recently selected his favorite quotes from C. S. Lewis. One has a great deal of relevance with regard to President Obama’s recent embrace of homosexual marriage.

“No man who says I’m as good as you believes it. He would not say it if he did…The claim to equality, outside the strictly political field, is made only by those who feel themselves to be in some way inferior. What it expresses is precisely the itching, smarting, writhing awareness of an inferiority that the patient refuses to accept. And therefore resents.”

Coverage of Obama’s announcement stressed how his views evolved, but truth be told his view didn’t so much “evolve” as revolve. In 1996 when Obama first ran for the Illinois State Senate, he was a strong supporter of homosexual marriage. Now, like the earth around the sun, choose–your–own–plumbing marriage has done a complete orbit of The Obama and arrived where it began.

That a peripheral question like this could have any role, however large or small, in a presidential election is yet another indicator that we live in a decadent age. Homosexual marriage is the Rosemary’s Baby of political questions: The unholy product of a union between the “living Constitution” and the “living Bible” crowd.

“Living Constitution” advocates interpret the document to support whatever faculty lounge fad is currently making the rounds in intellectual circles. In the last 50 years the Constitution has gone from a document protecting individual liberty to a grimy little pamphlet protecting the sexual proclivities of the libertine set.

The Bible has not fared any better. It could not be more clear on homosexual practices, yet there are clergy who take it upon themselves to breathe a little life into that dusty scroll. The Post quotes the Rev. Clement Aapengnu of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church claiming, “Who has the authority to define what marriage is?”

For starters I would have said the church does, based on the Bible, but if one doesn’t regard the Bible as the inspired word of God, then the book becomes just an ancient collection of folktales. We don’t take child–rearing advice from Hansel & Gretel, so why consult the Bible for a definition of marriage?

In fact that’s pretty much the take of the Post’s “religion” columnist Lisa Miller who wrote last week, “On the specifics of what constitutes a “good” or “right” kind of family, the Scriptures offer no guidance at all.”

The interesting question is why make the change now? Obama was going to carry Hollywood and San Francisco anyway, why take a chance on alienating red state voters?

Each time homosexual marriage has been put before voters it has, without exception, lost. North Carolina, the most recent state to vote, ratified man–woman marriage by a landslide 61 percent.

In its top–down campaign of sexual enlightenment, the media drags out various polls that show when the choice is binary between regular marriage and imitation marriage 51 percent support imitation marriage. When offered “civil unions” as a third option, support for homosexual marriage plummets to 38 percent.

This, however, is not good news for social conservatives. There is essentially no difference between civil unions and marriage. Just as the marriage of male and female by a justice of the peace has all the rights and privileges of a wedding in a church, the civil union is essentially the same as heterosexual marriage.

Even worse, as we saw in California, once they get “civil unions” the homosexual lobby terms it  “second class” marriage and uses its existence to prove discrimination in the courts.

You don’t have to be a Wal–Mart shopper to fall prey incoherent thinking with regard to homosexuals and the family. Mitt Romney, to his credit, opposes both homosexual marriage and civil unions. But then Romney says he does not oppose two random homosexuals who decide it might be fun to play house and adopt a child without even the formality of marriage.

If your basis for defining marriage is the “feelings” and “love” of the interested parties, then no coherent intellectual argument can be made to define numbers of wives or husbands and, with a bit of evolving, their ages. It’s not a slippery slope, this change is a leap into the abyss.

Currently Obama reassures the religious that he supports a same–sex marriage law that is “respectful of religious liberty.” Which sounds a lot like what he said regarding forcing religious institutions to cover abortion and contraception before the passage of Obamacare and we know how that turned out.

Massive Potential for Fraud in Montana Ahead of Primary

9:46 am in Uncategorized by Breitbart Feed

With Montana voters now receiving mail-in ballots for the June 5th primary election, Media Trackers Montana is receiving reports of significant ballot errors across the state. Unconfirmed reports placed possible statewide errors in the thousands, with a possible 600 erroneous ballots being reported in Broadwater County alone.

Secretary of State, Democrat Linda McCulloch, who administers all elections in the state of Montana, received a request today from Scott Aspenlieder– the presumed Republican frontrunner to challenge McCulloch in November– calling for a full audit of all mail in ballots across the state.

“On top of being sent invalid ballots, voters in Broadwater County’s precinct 11 are now forced to endure the confusion of having a second ballot mailed to their homes,” said Aspenlieder. “Then in Yellowstone County, we find out some voters were only sent one party’s Primary ballot, eliminating their right to choose the candidates they’d like to support. This failure of leadership is simply unacceptable, and Montanans deserve better. I call on our Secretary of State to begin a comprehensive audit of all of the 2012 absentee ballots to identify every single error, and immediately take steps to fix this process so a Montanan’s right to vote is never threatened again,” stated Aspenlieder.

A Media Trackers inquiry found state political officials in disarray; struggling to cope with the possible size of the damage. “Everywhere we are looking across the state, we are finding inconsistencies. Even on the Secretary of State’s website, the sample ballots are wrong” stated one high ranking official who asked not to be named. “About half of all Montanans vote by mail. With one of the top U.S. Senate races in the nation going on in this state and dozens of other hotly contested races on the ballot, this thing could have voter fraud written all over it.”

Media Trackers will continue to monitor this story and provide breaking updated developments.

SEIU Union Bosses May Make LAX the Most Dangerous Airport in America

9:36 am in Uncategorized by Breitbart Feed

The self-proclaimed,  “unabashedly progressive” and former union organizer Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (born Antonio Villar), has ceded control over much of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) over to Service Employees International Union (SEIU) bosses.  According to sources, for several years now, SEIU bosses have been running an LAWA-wide hiring hall known as First Source Hiring Program.  When LAX employers attempt security verification of employees received from First Source, SEIU boss Mike Garcia threatens retaliation for the security conscious employers

Garcia wrote: “… federal immigration law only requires verification of employment authorization for new hires and requires reverification in limited circumstances, such as when an employee’s work authorization document has expired.  Reverification that is not required by law is a mandatory subject of bargaining. Federal law also does not require that employers register for and participate in the E-Verify program.  E-Verify is a voluntary system.  This means that, but for limited circumstances such as for certain federal contractors, participation in the system by employers is not mandated by law and an employer voluntarily chooses to enter into an agreement with DHS to use the E-Verify system. It is the Union’s position that unless mandated by law, your company cannot and should not register for E-Verify…” without agreeing to SEIU demands.

Garcia’s intentions seem clear to some Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) employers: Don’t do background checks.

But, SEIU and Big Labor’s stranglehold over LAX, LA-Ontario International (ONT) and Van Nuys (VNY), the three airports under LAWA control, will soon come under a new LAWA bureaucracy that will expel all but five service providers for each LAWA-determined category of service.  As the program was explained during the LAWA board meeting, this reduction, while dramatically reducing choices for airlines,  will make labor unions happy.  The new program has been in the works for two years and is called Certified Service Provider Program (CSPP).

The CSPP, possibly a violation of the National Labor Act, has a mandatory Labor Harmony requirement that the remaining service providers must sign to be permitted to operate, to help “ensure contractor responsibility.”

In the most recent CSPP draft available, the Labor Harmony contract is generally explained as follows:

Labor Harmony — All CSPs covenant that its employees at LAX shall be able to work in harmony with all elements of labor employed at LAX. In the event that LAWA determines that it is necessary for public safety or the efficient operation of LAX to post police details or take other actions as a result of the inability of the CSP’s employees to work in harmony with other elements of labor employed at LAX, the CSP shall reimburse LAWA for all reasonable costs incurred by doing so.

In other words, LAX service providers must agree with union officials’ demands or they will be forced to pay for any LAWA costs incurred controlling union rallies, attempts to disrupt the airport passengers, businesses, traffic or any other union-directed nuisances or damages.

LAWA has taken sides in current and future labor disputes by creating this unworkable CSPP scheme. And, this new airport bureaucracy is set to be funded at 10% of the service providers gross, adding new costs to every ticket, meal, shopper, and shipment in and out of LAX.

SEIU already runs the First Source, which is included in the CSPP plan, and it has been putting pressure on employers at the airports for many months.  SEIU claims that LAX is “driving down standards for all workers” in LA.  However, Mayor Villaraigosa and the City Council have created two LA ‘living wages’ – a higher one for the airport and a lower one for the rest of LA  – more evidence that the city is trying to use the airport as a golden goose.

Mayor Villaraigosa, who appointed a majority of the LAWA board members, is turning LAWA into a 2012 sequel of On the Waterfront where union bosses controlled the ports with intimidation and regulations.  This time the ports are airports.

Though the CSPP is nearing its final stages before implementation, it may not be too late for Congress to investigate and prevent the crippling of a major transportation hub.

According to LAWA’s website: LAX is the sixth busiest airport internationally and third in the U.S. ONT ranks 59 among U.S. airports. VNY ranks 25 internationally in the number of flight operations, and is the world’s busiest general aviation airport.

While some may want to scoff and say this is what Hollywood gets; we ignore national impact at our own peril.  LAX could become the weak link in airport safety.  Nor should free people look away as others endure the bully tactics of the LA Mayor’s office and allow the LAWA board to force workers  to pay  union dues just to get a or keep a job at LAX.

But, action must happen fast.  The LAWA board is to vote on implementation of the CSPP at its May 21st meeting.

DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE EXPECTED TO CUT TIES WITH HAMAS-CAIR

9:30 am in Uncategorized by Cardigan

Atlas Shrugs

All government agencies should sever ties with unindicted co-conspirator Hamas-CAIR. Their terror ties are well documented. The subversive group’s head beekeeper, Ibrahim Hooper, is trotting out the Muslim victimhood myth, jihadophobia and the rest of the manufactured distractions designed to shift blame onto the very lawmakers protecting the American people.

We need a vigorous campaign to purge Muslim Brotherhood groups from the centers of power of all three branches of the US government. But Brotherhood infiltration is particularly bad at the Department of Justice, which has, in effect, become the defacto legal arm of Muslim Brotherhood groups like CAIR in America. If you missed my expose on how the DOJ kowtows to the Muslim Brotherhood, read this. I received hundreds of documents in response to my FOIA request, which I filed well over to a year ago. Specifically, I asked for “records relating to the meeting of the ‘Monthly Outreach Meeting’ with Muslim and Arab groups at the Civil Rights Division. Specifically, include lists of attendees at each monthly meeting, the agenda of each meeting including the meetings at which the Attorney General of the United States attended.

The principal impact of reading through the material was the sheer bulk of it. Hundreds and hundreds of pages of emails, documenting nearly daily and friendly contact, consultation, cooperation and collaboration between the DOJ and Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood groups. One thing is clear, the Muslim Brotherhood has fully infiltrated command and control at the Department of Justice civil rights division.

Accountability is long overdue.

DOJ Expected to Formalize Policy on Contacts with Muslim Advocacy Group Main Justice May 16, 2012

The Justice Department is expected to formalize a policy governing its relationship with the controversial Council on American-Islamic Relations, a House aide says — a move the FBI took in 2009.

The House passed a Commerce, Justice and science appropriations bill for fiscal year 2013 on Wednesday, with an accompanying committee report that encourages Attorney General Eric Holder to follow the FBI and formally ban official contacts with the Muslim advocacy group.

So have you seen this latest act of narcissism? Obama has been injected into nearly Presidential Biography on the White House website… ego gone wide.

Obama vandalizes White House presidential biographies to insert himself

It seems nothing is safe from President Obama these days.

Not only did he politicize Mother’s Day with an e-card from Obamacare, he has also inserted himself into the biographies of former presidents on the White House web site.

Philip Klein of the Washington Examiner noted Tuesday that “[c]onservatives are having a laugh after it surfaced that the official presidential biographies on the White House website have been updated to inject President Obama into history.”

“But kidding aside,” he added, “this is a truly disgraceful behavior.”

The most egregious example, he wrote, was discovered by Rory Cooper of the Heritage Foundation.

Cooper found a note appended to the official biography ofRonald Reagan, which says:

In a June 28, 1985 speech Reagan called for a fairer tax code, one where a multi-millionaire did not have a lower tax rate than his secretary. Today, President Obama is calling for the same with the Buffett Rule.

“Put aside the fact that what Reagan was proposing in 1985 had nothing to do with the Buffett Rule. Obama should not vandalize his predecessors’ biographies to promote his own agenda,” Klein wrote.

Well the RNC has taken time to help Obama insert himself into history…

OBAMA IN HISTORY

You know I don’t know if I should get mad or just laugh at how pathetic Obama and his massive ego is… it’s really sad… it’s laughable.

I was re-reading Dreams from my Father to prepare for an appearance on Hannity that will air tomorrow night, and I came across a passage I’d completely forgotten.

The scene is Chicago, in front of Obama’s apartment. A group of unruly young black men pulls up outside after midnight, music blasting. He has a guest in his apartment, and his neighbors have just brought home their newborn. He gets upset and goes outside to tell them off.

Then he starts to think: They could be me from just a few years ago. And they might intend him harm. Then, finally, he considers how he — a grown up with a job and a life — is increasingly unlike these kids, and how they may never have the chance to mature the way he did:

John Wolfe: Meet the Man Who Could Defeat Obama in Arkansas

9:00 am in Uncategorized by Breitbart Feed

What I would do is quit institutionalizing failure. — John Wolfe

In a poll of Arkansas Democrats released earlier this week, a relatively unknown attorney named John Wolfe, who is on the ballot in that state, was found to be only 7 points behind President Obama (38-45%). After the President lost almost 42% of the West Virginia vote to a prison inmate, he could be in for an even more humiliating evening come May 22.

The media, of course, is ignoring the remarkable story of an incumbent president having some real problems consolidating his base in parts of the country; including the swing state of North Carolina, where the Democrat convention will be held and where Obama lost 1 in 5 votes to “no preference.”

Obviously, if this were 2004 and George W. Bush’s unknown primary opposition was putting up numbers like these, it would be turned into a “defeat” narrative and inspire hundreds of stories about an incumbent in real trouble. If there was an “R” after John Wolfe’s  name, the media would’ve made him a folk hero by now and done everything in their power to ensure he embarrassed Bush on primary night.

Thankfully, it’s not 2004 anymore, and New Media is now able to deliver the news the mainstream media won’t. Here at Breitbart News, we consider a candidate polling within 7 points of a sitting President news, and after we reached out, Mr. Wolfe was gracious enough to agree to an in-depth interview.

Whether you agree with John Wolfe’s politics or not, and however things might shake out come May 22, this is an extraordinary and uniquely American story of a serious man who put himself out there for what he believes in.

And John Wolf is a serious man. As you’ll see below, this is a thoughtful candidate who has thought through the issues and knows what he believes in. I personally found his frustration with the President’s cozy relationship with Wall Street spot on.

—–

1. What motivated you to run against President Obama?

He campaigned one way and governed another.

2. How much money have you raised and have you paid for any advertising whatsoever?

Very little raised, and we have paid for no television or radio advertising at all. We mostly do fliers and make telephone calls.

3. Why do you think you’re within striking distance of upsetting President Obama?

Because he has failed to lead on key issues and seems remote from the problems that people face daily in their lives.

 4. If President Obama wins the nomination will you endorse him?

I hope and expect to be able to do so; however, we need to see what happens between now and September 5, 2012.

--

5. If you’re able to, will you try to get on the ballot in more states?

Yes.

6. What is your platform? What would you do different than the President?

What I would do is quit institutionalizing failure. The President has enshrined the health care industry by forcing millions of Americans to be its customers; yet this industry has made US healthcare costs the highest in the world, taking up a world record 16% GDP.

The President has compounded failure in the Middle East by committing more troops and billions more dollars to a Civil War that we cannot win, in a country that will never understand democracy the way we do. Although only a 100 or so Al Quaida members remain in Afghanistan, Obama continues to commit about 1 million dollars per soldier, or 90 billion dollars a year, to a failed war.

As to the financial industry, he has turned traditional notions of American meritocracy on their head by letting business failures from Citi Bank, JP Morgan, and GE be his closest advisors or chiefs of staff. Their banks failed us and the entire American economy by engaging in casino capitalism, but Obama continues to let them engage in these practices and fails to erect a wall between traditional commercial banking and the speculative trading that made it necessary for tax-payers to bail out these banks in the first place.

In short, Obama stepped into three major crises and failed to cure their root; instead he perpetuated the crises and ensured future problems by rewarding failure.

--

 7. What are you hearing on the ground from everyday Democrats about Obama; are they happy or unhappy with him.

Many are unhappy because they feel he is a creature of Wall Street. They see him as a pantomime populist because during the day he is talking about economic and market reform but when night comes, he attends evening events hosted by the hedge fund managers and gross speculators who dutifully raise tens of millions of dollars for his campaign. People simply feel that he doesn’t understand their problems or doesn’t seem to care about them.

8. In West Virginia an inmate took over 40% of the primary vote away from President Obama. Some responded by declaring those voters as motivated by racism. Do you think racism has anything to do with your poll numbers or will have anything to do with your showing on the 22nd?

I don’t want the vote of haters. I haven’t met many in Arkansas. If people hate on account of someone else’s race or sexual orientation, they should write- in their own candidate, maybe even selecting themselves.

9. If asked to replace Joe Biden as VP on the ticket, would you do so?

Yes.

--

10. Do you believe that Barack Obama deserves a second term?

No, though I do admire the President for his enormous intelligence, energy, charisma, and eloquence. However, the car with the highest horsepower is useless when it runs in the wrong direction.

11. What has Barack Obama done to the state of Arkansas that prompted your run?

He has institutionalized the failure of bankers and the health care industry. Arkansas is not his particular target, but his national policies have had negative affects here.

12. What do you feel makes you more qualified to be President than President Obama?

I think I have a deeper appreciation of what life is really like in America. For example, I have been a dishwasher, grass cutter, grocery sacker, merchandiser, food broker, substitute teacher, recreation director, investor, and finally an attorney. When I was 15, I lost part of my thumb doing agricultural work. I even had to hitchhike from Chattanooga to Knoxville and back to go to school.

Also, I am not beholden to any special interest group and have made what political progress I have solely on my own limited funds. I also can talk to average voters on their level because really, I am on their level, no better or worse than they are. I have talked to thousands of people in Arkansas and Texas by phone and put my number out there so that they can contact me.

A ‘Fact Checking Error’? Dystel & Goderich Ask Writers to Submit Their Own Bios

8:44 am in Uncategorized by Breitbart Feed

Submission guidelines at the Dystel & Goderich website (original emphasis): “[Y]ou should describe in two or three sentences—no more—what the book will be about. This is followed by another brief paragraph on why it is being written and then another on why you are qualified to write it….Finally, there should be a more formal narrative Bio of the author.”

***

Back in the mid-1990s, I lived in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. My wife was a medical student at the University of Chicago and I worked as a newspaper reporter.

I didn’t know it, but also living in Hyde Park a few blocks away was a fellow just a couple years older than me named Barack Obama. At the time, he was a part-time lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, and I’m sure that at one time or another we crossed paths. I had no idea who he was, and unless he was a regular reader of the Chicago Daily Southtown, I’m pretty certain he had no idea who I was.

During that time, another reporter and I decided we wanted to write a non-fiction book about aging super-jocks–men and women in their 60s, 70s and 80s who could still sprint or do an Ironman or play baseball.

So we searched long and hard for a literary agent, and finally we found one who liked our material. Her name was Jane Dystel, and she worked in New York City.

A few years earlier, Jane Dystel had agreed to rep another client: my neighbor, Barack Obama!

All these years later, my former neighbor is President of the United States, and I’m reading a kerfuffle about how Dystel’s agency promoted Obama as being born in Kenya. The kind people at Breitbart News asked me to write a bit about what it was like writing material for Jane Dystel and how she worked.

Now let me say right up front: when it comes to Obama, I’m not going to speculate who wrote what, when. Dystel had assistants, one of whom is now her partner, Miriam Goderich, who says the whole Obama-born-in-Kenya thing was a fact-checking mistake by her. And I cannot speak specifically to the mechanism of Dystel’s publicity. (Alas, Dystel was unable to sell anything I wrote, so she had no reason to promote me, but I’m getting ahead of myself.)

I can speak of what she was like to work with and how she generated material. In my dealings with Dystel, I found her exceptionally thorough and very professional. She had a template she wanted non-fiction writers to follow, and my writing partner and I followed her template closely. She was rather fastidious, going so far as to mail a personal “Season’s Greetings” card in December.

All material she used in our proposals came directly from me and my writing partner. She edited our rough-draft proposals and gave us feedback, but the final versions were all ours. Our final versions, bio included, were then simply photo-copied, by us, and distributed to potential publishers. This was back in the pre-Google days, recall.

I was asked to write the bio in the third person.

Our first proposal didn’t generate any offers from publishers. We needed an advance to be able to afford to write it, and with no money forthcoming, we shelved the idea.

Several years later, my writing partner and I returned to Dystel with what we thought was a better proposal. We had joined forces with a Pulitzer-prize winning photographer, and we thought our proposed book, “Drinking from the Fountain of Youth: Profiles and Portraits of Ageless Women Athletes,” would sell. Dystel liked the idea, and she agreed to rep it. I have pulled that proposal out of my files, and it is sitting on my desk as I write this.

That second proposal logged in at 59 pages, including original art and writing samples. My bio for that proposal was five sentences long. Of course, since it was a sales pitch, I puffed myself up: I highlighted how I had reported for Minnesota Public Radio and The Philadelphia Inquirer but omitted my years at the somewhat lowly Chicago Daily Southtown. I suppose I could have made something up (who would have known?), but I didn’t.

Despite Dystel’s encouragement and hopes, the second also project failed to sell. By that point, I was living in Southern California, and still hadn’t heard of Barack Obama. I had moved from Chicago a few months after he was sworn into the Illinois State Senate in ’97, and he didn’t show up on my radar. Granted, my wife and I had a new baby, she was finishing med school, and had been preparing to move out of state at the time. Life was a blur. I didn’t much care who Hyde Park’s new state senator was.

Later, I would learn who Obama was when he made a speech in 2004 at the Democratic National Convention. A few years later I discovered we shared Jane Dystel–or at least we did, briefly, because Obama dropped her after his very delayed success with his book Dreams From my Father. For his second book, The Audacity of Hope, Obama, in the words of the New York Times, “untethered himself from his longtime literary agent in favor of Robert B. Barnett, the Washington lawyer who had gotten Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton an $8 million book advance and then landed Mr. Obama a $1.9 million, three-book deal.”

Continued the Times

What happened between Mr. Obama and Ms. Dystel is not clear. Ms. Dystel declined to be interviewed for this article. Mr. Obama said, “It really had more to do with the fact that by the time ‘The Audacity of Hope’ was written, I was going to be in Washington and was obviously now very high profile.” Mr. (Peter) Osnos called Mr. Obama’s decision to switch to Mr. Barnett, whose clients include former Prime Minister Tony Blair of Britain, “disloyal but not unusual.”

Meanwhile, I last had contact with Dystel two years ago. I came to her with another book idea. It was a memoir, like Obama’s first book. In my story, I wrote about how I attended the University of Southern California’s vaunted film school as a busted-broke middle-aged family man, a guy with three young daughters and a wife recovering from cancer, and how I had a stroke while in film school and ended up selling a prime-time television series to CBS while still at USC.

Dystel declined to rep it. She said she wasn’t interested.

The story ends well; immediately after Dystel dropped me, I found another literary agent who loved my idea and sold it within weeks. My book, Film School, was released late last year, and Hollywood is already knocking at my door.

Dystel’s full submission requirements from her website today (original emphasis):

Nonfiction Proposal Guidelines

We work very hard with our clients to help them create their proposals and because we think this part of the publishing process is so very important, we wanted to share our basic formula for putting together a non-fiction proposal.

The proposal is broken down into several parts:

The first is the Overview. This begins with a brief dramatic anecdote which is meant to get the reader, in this case the editor at the publishing company, interested in the material. Immediately after this anecdote, you should describe in two or three sentences—no more—what the book will be about. This is followed by another brief paragraph on why it is being written and then another on why you are qualified to write it

After this, you need to describe your audience who will buy your book—both demographically and statistically. The more numbers you have here the better.

The final element of the overview is a comparative section where you compare your book to others that would be found in the same place in the bookstore. In each case, you must provide the author, the title, the publisher, and the year of initial publication and, book by book, tell us how your proposed book will be as successful as those or more so.

The next element of the proposal is the Annotated Table of Contents. This consists of chapter heads and no more than a couple of sentences on what each chapter will contain.

Then you need sample material:

    • If you’re writing a general nonfiction book, we need at least one sample chapterthat matches a chapter described in your annotated table of contents.  The sample chapter is meant to do two things: show off the writing and tell us things we don’t already know.
    • If you’re writing a cookbook, there should be a section of sample recipes, which can be labeled as such. There should be 10-12 recipes from all parts of the book (i.e., one or more from the appetizer section, one or more from the soups and salads section, one or more from the entrees section, etc.). Each of these recipes should be accompanied by headnotes (about a paragraph of text introducing the recipe). Each recipe should be in standard cookbook format and should clearly state the number of people it will serve.  In addition to the sample recipes, you’ll need to include introductory text from one or two different sections of the book so that editors get a sense of your narrative writing style.

Finally, there should be a more formal narrative Bio of the author.

This is followed by links that serve as Support Material—reviews of previous books, recent articles by and about you from national publications, a schedule of speaking appearances, any national media appearances, etc.

Biden Calls Himself ‘Middle Class Joe,’ Owns Mansion

8:00 am in Uncategorized by Cardigan

Weekly Standard

Joe Biden, speaking in Ohio today, said that he is “tired of being called a ‘Middle Class Joe.’”

See Video here

While it’s not clear who actually calls the vice president that, it is clear that his house and finances tell a different story. Here’s a picture of his home (not his official vice presidential residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.):

Zillow.com, a reliable real estate web site, estimates the worth of Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware, home (pictured above) to be a cool $2,856,950. (This does not appear to include the cottage on the Biden estate, which the vice president rents out to the Secret Service for more than $12,000 per year.)

“The vice president and his wife, Jill Biden, reported assets of between $239,000 and $866,000,” according to Bloomberg.

“I said it yesterday, and I’ll say it more calmly today. I don’t think these guys understand us,” Biden also told the Ohio audience.

Biden added: ”What do they think we think? What do they think we think in our houses? We’re like the rich guys — we have dreams, we have aspirations.” Indeed.

Pelosi : No to Provision Protecting Chaplains From Being Ordered to Act Against Faith

7:30 am in Uncategorized by Cardigan

(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she stands with the White House in opposing a provision in the House defense authorization bill that would prohibit anyone in the military from ordering a chaplain to act against his or her “conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs” or against the religious beliefs of the denomination to which he or she belongs.

Pelosi described the conscience-protection provision as a “fraud.”

The provision is broadly written to deny anyone in the armed forces the authority to “direct, order, or require a chaplain to perform any duty, rite, ritual, ceremony, or function” that is contrary to his or her conscience, moral principles or religious beliefs or the principles or beliefs of his or her religious denomination.

Among other things, the provision would protect a chaplain from deleterious career repercussions if he or she refused to perform a same-sex marriage ceremony because it violated their religious beliefs.

Prelude to a Cutback of Oil and Gas Development on Public Lands?

7:00 am in Uncategorized by Cardigan

PJ Media

The administration kvetches that companies aren’t using their leases, despite Interior regulations leaving lands “idle.”

The Obama administration issued a report this week highlighting a surplus of unused oil and gas leases on public lands, in an ominous sign that it might be laying out a case to eventually cut back on acreage open for development.

The White House forwarded the Department of Interior report to its press list, stating that more than two-thirds of federal offshore acreage leased by industry and more than half of federal onshore leased acreage in the lower 48 states remains idle without active production or exploration activity.

“As part of the Obama administration’s all of the above energy strategy, we continue to make millions of acres of public lands available for safe and responsible domestic energy production on public lands and in federal waters,” said Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. “We continue to offer new areas onshore and offshore for leasing, as we have over the last three years, and we also want companies to develop the tens of millions of acres they’ve already leased but have left sitting idle in order to further reduce our reliance on foreign oil as quickly as possible.”

The Interior Department said its finding were consistent with President Obama’s “Blueprint for a Secure Energy Future.”

It said that out of nearly 36 million acres leased offshore, only about 10 million acres are active. In the lower 48 states, an additional 20.8 million acres, or 56 percent of onshore leased acres, remain idle. Approximately 7,000 approved permits for drilling on federal and Indian lands have not yet been drilled by companies, Interior said.

While the administration publicly balks about unused leases, many point to industry being scared away from developing on public lands by increasing bureaucracy and stifling regulations.

‘The Dictator’ Review: Dated Parody Lacks Teeth, But Not Laughs

7:00 am in Uncategorized by Breitbart Feed

I always had reservations about Sacha Baron Cohen’s sucker-punching humor.

“Borat” was hilarious, unless you happened to be one of the trusting Romanians who were mocked as ignorant peasants in the picture. “Brüno,” the less-successful followup, also had some funny moments, although not for Ron Paul, or possibly any gay people to whom Cohen’s fake-homosexual come-on to the grandfatherly politician might have seemed stereotypically predatory.

In any case, after “Brüno,” Cohen’s documentary formula for public humiliation appeared to have exhausted its possibilities – the six-foot, three-inch star had become too conspicuously famous to continue pulling it off.

And so now we have “The Dictator,” a movie that relies, not on queasy embarrassment, but solely on its story. Unfortunately, the story – a parody of a Middle Eastern autocrat not unlike the late Muammar Gaddafi – is strained, and the parody dated. Targeting a lunatic Islamist would have been audacious, if risky (I think we can assume that Cohen values his life). Taking aim at a more traditional madman with a chest full of bogus medals and a fondness for hot female bodyguards is risk-free, but toothless – Gaddafi already parodied himself, and was for decades a figure of media derision.

Box Office Predictions: ‘Avengers’ to Torpedo ‘Battleship’

7:00 am in Uncategorized by Breitbart Feed

Can anyone stop “The Avengers?”

In celebration of all things “Avengers,” we’ve thrown together a list of our favorite fan videos for your enjoyment. Last week, commentator Lammergeier had the right feel on “Dark Shadows” with…

As for Dark Shadows, it feels like there’s not enough substance there, just Depp+Burton+the memory of a campy TV show. I’ll be surprised if it hits $40M, and after opening weekend it’ll sink like a stone.

How right you were. It didn’t even hit $30 million after all said and done ($29.6 OW). Great call.

This weekend’s predictions and revenue results go as follows.

1. The Avengers ($66 Million) – The record for the highest third weekend ever sits with “Avatar” at $68.4 million. If not the top spot, film will definitely beat “Spider-Man’s” $45 million in the runner-up spot.

2. Battleship ($35 Million) -Film’s marketing seems too based on being the next “Transformers” that it’s forgotten audiences need more story structure to work with. We’ve already seen other big-budget box office disappointments like “John Carter” (bad marketing) and last week’s “Dark Shadows” (horrible word of mouth) walk this road. Add to this the film’s low buzz, and a lower end opening seems destined.

3. The Dictator ($18 Million) – Sacha Baron Cohen’s transfer to more traditional comedy has been full of rough spots. Adding to the film’s woes is this film’s all too familiar “You Don’t Mess With The Zohan”-like feel. The storyline didn’t feel that fresh back then, either.

4. What To Expect When You’re Expecting ($17 Million) – If the film performs to full potential, it’s looking at around a “Baby Mama”-like number. Of course, all bets are off with the incredible blockbuster competition this film’s up against.

5. Dark Shadows ($15 Million) – The film’s $150 million production budget really looms over this one. I’ll take this film’s lower than expected opening and raise you a disappointing second weekend.

Thanks for dropping in. Have a great weekend.

‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’ Review: Daddies Rule in Pregnancy Rom-Com

7:00 am in Uncategorized by Breitbart Feed

“What to Expect When You’re Expecting” falls squarely into the newest rom-com genre – pack as many stars in as possible without giving them nearly enough to do.

Think “Valentine’s Day” and “New Year’s Eve” for the two most recent examples.

Yet “Expecting” vaults over those overstuffed comedy carcasses thanks to a simple, undeniable truth. We’ll buy just about any hackneyed premise as long as it makes us laugh.

And there are plenty of howls here, especially when Chris Rock and his fellow screen dads are on the scene. The addition of a daddy’s-only group makes “Expecting” not just a fine time but a tonic to rom-coms which offer precious little for the fellas to enjoy.

The film follows a gaggle of loosely, kinda-sorta related characters all dealing with the arrival of a new baby. Hardcore fitness diva and reality star Jules (Cameron Diaz, buffer than buff) didn’t plan on getting knocked up by her “Dancing with the Stars”-style partner (“Glee’s Matthew Morrison). But she won’t stop filming either of her reality shows just because she has a bun in her taut, tan oven.

Holly (Jennifer Lopez) is looking to adopt a child from Ethiopia, but her beau (Rodrigo Santoro) is scared to death about becoming a pappy.

And mothering expert Wendy (Elizabeth Banks) is about to learn that being pregnant involves as much vomiting and incontinence as it does that alleged glow.

Co-stars Dennis Quaid (who really can’t do comedy), Brooklyn Decker (showing improvement from “Just Go With It”), Thomas Lennon, Rock, Anna Kendrick and Chace Crawford round out the cast, a game troupe eager to exploit every baby cliche in modern culture.

But it’s the fathers who rule this rom-com. “No judging,” is their mantra, and they have their own rules regarding the best way to stay sane. Their banter is brisk and natural, and when the lone single guy in the troupe (the towering Joe Manganiello from “True Blood”) appears they treat him like a god. Sharp, funny stuff.

Banks gets arguably the most screen time among the A-level stories, and deservedly so. She remains as underrated as Paul Rudd in the comedy department, and watching her transform from mommy expert to a quivering wreck is to witness a delicate dance that too few actors can pull off.

“What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” based on the popular birthing guide, should have stuck to its most successful plotines and trimmed the rest. But amidst the character overload are buckets of laughter and enough frustrated fathers to warrant a sequel.

SECURING AMERICA’S BORDERS

By Burt Keefer AmericaWorking.Org

It’s important to understand why we must secure our borders. There are many reasons and all of them need to be done but there is one threat that is overlooked the most and it’s the most dangerous one of all. The power in voting. We process 1 million legal immigrates each year becoming new U.S. citizens. They take an oath and become a new Wel-fare Recipient.

We have just added 1 million new voters per year for the movement of socialism. But this number is small in comparison to the anchor babies of illegal aliens. They will come of age to vote by 2016 and their vote will offset or cancel the Conservative voters. Yes, I’m talking about We The People, the last of our kind. This means we would be out voted in the Country our Fathers conquered without a shot being fired or one drop of blood being spilled. Watch the 9 minute video above on Securing Our Borders.

True Crime Report

If you’re going to scam an insurance company out of a renter’s claim — and you don’t want to get caught — there are a few simple steps you should follow. Gustavo Diaz, Alina Nunez, and their gang got the first part right by renting apartments under different names, stocking them with furniture and waiting a while so they seemed to be lived in before setting them on fire. Alas, their cheapness led to a fatal error: Prosecutors say they used the same set of crappy Goodwill furniture in scores of bogus fires — including the same picture frame full of the same “family photos.” Diaz and 19 others all face felony fraud charges now. I love the idea that a fireman looked on the mantle and spotted the same “family” from another apartment fire. I don’t know if it happened that way, but I hope it did.

Video: AEI/Arthur Brooks – Are Free Markets Fair?

11:33 pm in Uncategorized by Breitbart Feed

American Enterprise Institute President Arthur Brooks is trying to take the language of fairness back from liberals, who reflexively want to paint the free enterprise system as unfair. His newly-released bookThe Road To Freedom, urges free market advocates to fight for the free enterprise system by making the moral case for it.

To better help people make this argument, which is essential in ensuring the country does not go down the path of Europe, AEI will be providing Breitbart News with exclusive videos, which will feature Brooks debunking liberal stereotypes about the free markets.

In this video, titled, “Are Free Markets Fair?”, Brooks says, “Fairness is created in an opportunity society and rewarding people for hard work and merit,” which 70 percent of American people believe.

“Spreading the wealth around isn’t fair,” Brooks says. “Earning your success is, getting ahead on the basis of your merit is fair, having opportunity is fair, and only free enterprise gives us those things.”

Nancy Pelosi: “I Wish People Would Earn More So They Can Pay More”

Clearly Nancy Pelosi doesn’t understand what it’s like when regular working folks put in more work, only to see that productivity punished with more taxes. If she did, she wouldn’t so openly advocate for an expansion of the idea.

Granted, it’s true the more productive the economy of America becomes, the more revenue is generated to pay the bills America has on the desk. This shouldn’t be the only reason for Democrats to hope for better days. Besides, shouldn’t Pelosi be more concerned with reducing the number of her bills we’re all forced to pay for?

WI: WALKER OPPONENT AWARDED NO-BID CONTRACT

Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett, who is running against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in the upcoming state recall election, allegedly awarded illegal no-bid contracts to a campaign donor, according to two metal recycling firms who are threatening to sue the city.

The two firms claim they were shut out of business by a third company that obtained exclusive contracts through the city. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports:

A lawyer for Mill Valley Recycling and Waukesha Iron & Metal filed a notice of claim Tuesday, saying they will sue if the city doesn’t rescind its ongoing contract with Miller Compressing and offer other companies the opportunity to bid on the work. …

A contract was awarded to Miller [...] after bidding in 1990 and 1994. The latter was “privately extended” through 2000 without competitive bidding, according to the claim notice. In 2001, when the contract had expired, it was extended “in secret and without public bid” on a month-to-month basis to October 2003, when the parties entered a contract until 2005, and then until 2009.

The other firms contend that the public works commissioner has never made a formal determination that it was best to go without a contract.

In 2010, Miller Compression gave $10,500 to Barrett in campaign contributions immediately after the company was awarded another no-bid contract in 2009.

It was a hard-fought race right up to the end, but when it was all over, the Republican who had been considered the long-shot in the race until the last few days clinched nomination for the U.S. Senate in Nebraska Tuesday night.  With near-final returns in, State Sen. Deb Fischer, the “late bloomer,” upset long-presumed front-runner and State Attorney General Jon Bruning by a margin of 41 to 36 percent.  State Treasurer Don Stenberg, once considered Bruning’s main rival, ran third with about 25 percent.

All three were considered conservative, albeit in different degrees and styles.  But the primary drew national press attention and involvement from numerous outside organizations and politicians, among them three past GOP presidential hopefuls.  In large part, this was because involvement in Nebraska’s GOP Senate primary came with little risk.  The winner, no matter who he or she was, would be considered a sure bet in the fall to pick up the seat of retiring Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson.

Almost universally, polls showed any of the three Republicans handily defeating Democratic nominee and former Sen. Bob Kerrey, who has voted, paid taxes, and lived in Manhattan since retiring from the Senate in 2000.

By all accounts, Fischer will become the Cornhusker State’s first female senator since fellow Republican Hazel H. Abel, who filled out a Senate term for two months in 1954.

New Mexico takes over Sunland Park: Audit finds misappropriation of city money, more

SUNLAND PARK — The state of New Mexico took over fiscal oversight of Sunland Park on Monday after a state audit found widespread fraud, criminal violations and misappropriation of city funds, including money used to pay for prostitutes in Mexico and improperly forgiving some residents’ utility bills.

State Auditor Hector Balderas announced the findings of a special audit into the government of a small city still struggling to name a new mayor after the previous mayor-elect was arrested on extortion and other charges

The 80-page audit report listed 27 separate cases regarding misappropriation of money from the city’s Border Crossing Fund, misuse of travel and per diem payments, violations of the Open Meetings Act, and other problems.

Balderas said the audit confirmed that $42,161 was used from the Border Crossing Fund to pay invoices from EnviroSystems Management Consultants, Inc. The invoices were allegedly reimbursements for alcohol, strip clubs and even prostitutes for Daniel Salinas, then-mayor pro tem, and the city’s public information officer, Arturo Alba, during a lobbying trip to Mexico.

Money from the border fund was also used to pay for a campaign video for Salinas and was used to pay for a private investigator who filmed a hidden-camera video showing one of Salinas’ political rivals with a topless dancer.

The audit reported that the city issued a contract for $2.4 million to EnviroSystems Management Consultants without competitive bid requirements. “They used it (the Border Crossing Fund) as a private slush-fund account,” Balderas said

In 2010, the Sunland Park City Council improperly forgave about $200,000 in utility bills for some residential customers in violation of state law prohibiting donations from the government, the audit stated

Former City Manager Jaime Aguilera, according to the audit report, told auditors that in several cases Salinas ordered Aguilera to adjust bills of certain customers regardless of whether they qualified for the city’s assistance program. In one case, a customer’s bill was reduced from $767 to $196
