OK Congressman John Sullivan: No-Show Again

An interesting fact has come up in the Oklahoma congressional primary race between incumbent Tulsa Congressman John Sullivan and Jim Bridenstine.

According to the non-partisan website GovTrack.us, Sullivan hasn’t bothered to show up very often to do the job that the voters in Oklahoma’s 1st District sent him to do. From February 2002 through the first quarter of 2012, he missed 679 of the 7,650 recorded or roll call votes taken in the House of Representatives. That’s 9%, worse than the median of 2.4%.

“If someone’s paying me $174,000 per year plus benefits and perks, which is what the average congressperson earns today, you’d better believe I wouldn’t be a no-show like this fellow,” said Ken Crow (Co-Founder/VP, Restoring America Project (RAP) Super PAC). RAP has endorsed Bridenstine. Crow continued, “Maybe if I were bed-ridden with a fever of 105 degrees Fahrenheit, I might miss here and there. But I doubt that was the case here, not 679 times.

He added, “Restoring America Project picked Bridenstine in this race because you know that he understands what duty means, as a Navy combat veteran in Iraq and Afghanistan. Someone who’s called to defend our country can’t go to his commanding officer and beg off whenever he feels like it. When you make a promise to the American people, you stick to it. Congressman Sullivan just doesn’t seem to be taking his duty seriously.”

Press Release: TEA Party Catches Congress Hiding Earmark In Space

TEA Party Catches Congress Hiding Earmark In Space

(Cape Canaveral, FL)— TEA Party in Space, a non-partisan organization, announced Monday that it had discovered an earmark worth approximately 9 billion dollars in the NASA authorization act. The cleverly written language, combined with pressure from members of Congress whose districts would benefit from this earmark would guarantee that only Alliant Techsystems (ATK) of Utah could be awarded the contract for the Reusable Solid Rocket Motor (RSRM) with the new Space Launch System (SLS).

ATK was originally awarded the Ares I contract on August 10, 2007 on a sole source, cost plus contract worth 1.8 billion dollars. The Ares I rocket encountered numerous problems that caused years of delays and costs have spiraled out of control. After spending 4.79 billion dollars on Ares I, the US government wisely decided to cancel this program that was behind schedule and over budget. But hidden in last year’s NASA Authorization is an attempt to restart this failed project, in the form of a new NASA program called the Space Launch System.

“ATK was awarded a no bid cost plus contract for Ares, which before cancellation, resulted in a vehicle that had gone massively over budget and was years behind schedule. Now some in congress wants to give ATK another chance, including more billions of dollars, to help develop a rocket that is supposed to be more capable, without even considering whether we should be rewarding this type of behavior. This is not the fiscally responsible thing to do.” said Everett Wilkinson, spokesperson for TEA Party in Space.

This earmark in Public Law 111-267 stifles not only NASA, but the free market. Companies like Aerojet of Sacramento California could file a protest with NASA and request open competition for the RSRM contract. NASA will be forced to build a rocket that will not have a single payload that can use the full capability of 70 metric tons by 2016.

The congressional TEA Party caucus and the republican leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives have vowed to remove earmarks from the legislative process. Members should openly question how this law was allowed to pass and work to remove this language. This law is just another example of how legislators try to manipulate the flow of tax payer’s hard earned money into select states and districts for personal gain.

Earmarkers feast on pork one last time before diet

6:31 pm in US Congress by admin

WASHINGTON (AP) — The spending barons on Capitol Hill, long used to muscling past opponents of bills larded with pet projects, are seeking one last victory before tea party-backed GOP insurgents storm Congress intent on ending the good old days of pork-barrel politics.

You might call it the last running of the old bulls in Congress.

In the waning days of the lame duck congressional session, Democrats controlling the Senate — in collaboration with a handful of old school Republicans — are pushing to wrap $1.27 trillion worth of unfinished budget work into a single “omnibus” appropriations bill.

Their 1,900-plus-page bill comes to the floor this week stuffed with provisions sought by lawmakers. It contains thousands of pet projects, known as earmarks, pushed by Democratic and GOP senators alike — despite a pledge by Republicans to give up such projects next year.

“That omnibus bill will be loaded down with earmarks and pork barrel spending, which is a direct — a direct — betrayal of the majority of voters on Nov. 2 who said ‘Stop the earmarking, stop the spending, stop the pork barrel projects,’” protested Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

The catchall bill is designed to bankroll the operations of every Cabinet agency for the budget year that started Oct. 1, as well as $158 billion to pay for wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

It also challenges President Barack Obama. One administration-opposed provision would block the Pentagon from transferring Guantanamo Bay prisoners to the United States. Another would provide $450 million for a program to develop a second engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter despite a veto threat by the administration, which says it’s a waste of money.

The architect of the measure, Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, has been working with senior Republicans on the panel — Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Robert Bennett of Utah and Christopher Bond of Missouri — to line up the 60 votes needed to repel a filibuster promised by GOP Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina and other conservatives.

“We remain cautiously optimistic,” said Inouye spokesman Rob Blumenthal.

Inouye’s measure would replace a slightly less expensive bill that the House passed last week. The House bill doesn’t contain earmarks like road and agricultural research projects, water treatment plants and grants for local anti-drug campaigns.

House Democrats, however, would gladly accept the fatter Senate version. Its many earmarks include $80 million in grants to states and Indian tribes to preserve Pacific salmon and $13 million in clean water grants for rural and Alaska native villages.

There’s also $4 million sought by Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell for the Kentucky National Guard’s marijuana eradication efforts and $8 million sought by GOP Sen. John Thune of South Dakota to help maintain the B-1 bomber fleet in his state. Though their states would benefit, both Republicans oppose the bill, and McConnell said Tuesday he’s asked for his earmarks to be removed.

“This is exactly what the American people said Nov. 2 they didn’t want us to do,” he added.

The year-end logjam continues a long tradition in which a dysfunctional Congress is unable to do its most basic job of providing money to run the government on time.

Rather than debating a dozen separate appropriations bills, the omnibus spending measure rolls all the spending bills into a single piece of legislation that is likely to be brought to the floor in a way that keeps opponents from trimming it down.

Democrats hope to pass the measure by a midnight deadline Saturday. That would give them the latest — and perhaps last — victory over conservatives who contend the annual appropriations bills spend too much money and contain too many pork-barrel projects.

Incoming House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, is a long-standing opponent of doling out federal dollars for sewer projects, community development grants and the like based on special requests from lawmakers.

Boehner will become the single most powerful member of Congress next year, and he has laid down the law, promising to cut as much as $100 billion from 2011 agency budgets and ban earmarks. He signed a letter last week asking Obama to veto the omnibus bill because of its earmarks.

For now, though, Boehner still is outnumbered by Democrats.

And across the Capitol, Democrats control the Senate with 58 votes. But their numbers will shrink to 53 in January, and many of the 13 incoming Senate Republicans are replacing eager earmarkers like Bond and Bennett, who follow the rich Appropriations Committee tradition of banding together, regardless of party, to beat back critics of their spending.

McConnell said he’s actively working to defeat the giant spending bill. And GOP conservatives are irate over provisions that would begin to pay for Obama’s overhauls of the U.S. health care system and financial services regulations.

Harry Reid and the Democrats’ New McCarthyism – Voting on the DISCLOSE Act in ONE HOUR!

4:09 pm in US Congress by admin

The DISCLOSE bill is the liberal’s response to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Citizens United case. This bill would limit spending on political issues by corporations but not by Unions. It exempts large political groups from it’s burdensome requirements yet buries small groups (like your average Tea Party group) with regulations that could put the groups or even individuals in legal jeopardy. The DISCLOSE bill has exemptions for media corporations (I.E. the main stream media) political speech, but not for the new media and bloggers.

This bill is another obscene attack by the left on the First Amendment. It is a bill designed to shut down political speech by mostly conservative groups, while allowing mostly liberal groups to continue on. This bill must be stopped.

Once again, we must take time to call our Senators and tell them to stop this attack on the First Amendment. Harry Reid is going to try and end debate on this bill either late today or tomorrow in what is called a cloture vote. We only need 41 votes to defeat Reid and this bill. Call your Senator today and tell them to vote against this bill every time it comes up, including voting against cloture.

Florida Senators:

LeMieux, George S. – (R – FL) Class III
356 RUSSELL SENATE OFFICE BUILDING WASHINGTON DC 20510
(202) 224-3041
webform

Nelson, Bill – (D – FL) Class I
716 HART SENATE OFFICE BUILDING WASHINGTON DC 20510
(202) 224-5274
webform

In addition to calling your Senators, here are a few others to call that might help stop this bill:

Senator Olympia Snowe (202) 224 5344
Senator Susan Collins (202) 224 2523
Senator Blanche Lincoln (202) 224 4843
Senator Lindsey Graham (202) 224 5972

If all 41 Republicans vote against this bill, it will die. Chances of death improve if one or more Democrats can be persuaded to vote against it (which is why Blanche Lincoln’s name is in that list of people to call).

Two years ago, would we have believed it would be necessary to call our elected officials every week, just to save our basic constitutional rights? This is why elections are important and this is why the elections this fall are so important. But they are still over 90 days away. Today, we must call again so that the Senate does not repeal the 1st Amendment!

DEFICIT AGAIN CROSSES $1 TRILLION THRESHOLD:

8:46 am in Economic News, US Congress by admin

While surpassing the $1 trillion mark was universally expected given the economic downturn and the government’s response to it, CBO’s report did offer a glimmer of good news — revenues for the year are now slightly up compared with last year. Until June, revenues this fiscal year have continued to lag behind last year’s figures, but a surge in corporate income taxes and Federal Reserve payments pushed this year’s total higher, although only marginally so, by $8 billion. CBO estimates that corporate income taxes are 31 percent ($31 billion) higher, while receipts from the Federal Reserve have increased by $35 billion, largely because it has greatly expanded its level of assets and shifted toward riskier investments that yield more, CBO says. Individual income and payroll taxes, meanwhile, are down about 4 percent for the fiscal year, which has three months remaining. On the spending side, outlays are down 3 percent (about $70 billion), but CBO notes that the reduction is due to reduced government spending on the financial crisis. Absent that spending on TARP, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and deposit insurance, federal spending is actually up by 11 percent ($280 billion) — although a large portion of that increase is due to higher spending for unemployment insurance, Medicaid, flood and nutrition assistance, and other responses to the economic downturn. CBO’s review is based on daily Treasury reports; Treasury’s monthly report with more complete figures will be released Tuesday.

Lynch Leads By 37 Votes – What The GOP Needs To Do To Win!

1:30 pm in Elections, US Congress by admin

Yesterday we had the much anticipated US Congressional District 19 Primary.   Ted Deutch (D) easily won his party’s nomination, while Ed Lynch is only 37 votes ahead of Joe Budd.  The Republicans should be ashamed of themselves this morning because they had just a little over 7% turnout compared to the Democrat 12%!  This should be considered a disappointment for the GOP, because there was 3 GOP candidates fighting for over two months to get collectively less than a third of the vote.

A Democrat onlooker said it best, “The Republicans are fighting over who will be captain of the Titanic!”  It is funny, but true.   The GOP candidates focused more beating each other up than convincing voters to get out and vote for them. Like most tea party members, I became extremely excited to see Brown win in Massachusetts. Here in South Florida we have an opportunity to win the US Congressional District 19 seat from the self proclaimed “Fire Breathing Liberal.”

The voters in Massachusetts voted to send a “message to DC.”  I think the voters inFlorida will send a message to the GOP.   Their message will be clear – campaign on issues and policies.

Conservative candidates must focus on issues and current legislation.  What distinguishes us from the left is our commitment to policies that promote economic and personal freedom versus a government nanny state.  Our motto should be “issues not parties.”

Milton Friedman always pointed out that people will most likely act in their self interest.   A good candidate will convince people that by voting for him, the issues he is supporting will help the people.  Once elected, the representative should be like a “dog on a bone” concerning issues. We expect our representatives to do everything they can to fight for “our issues.”   Nothing should hamper them from their goal.  If you are not willing to fight on issues, and later secure public policy based on those issues, don’t run.   Stay home or join a charitable organization.

Here are just a few suggestions for those seeking my vote.

  • Explain to me how you will go to DC and fight the take over of our health care by the government.
  • Tell me that you will not vote for one bill that adds a penny to the deficit.
  • Pledge to me that you will stand up to the President and tell him you are “liar” if he misleads the people.
  • Pledge to me that you will stand up to your own party against bad policies, and laws.
  • Pledge to me that you will vote to end earmarks and will not seek earmarks.
  • Convince me that you are going to work for the taxpayer and not some lobbyist.

Healthcare = Bribes, Bullying, Extortion

7:12 pm in US Congress by sammela

bully
In the liberal world view, there is no problem so small or localized that the Federal Government can’t or shouldn’t create an agency to regulate and educate the public about how to solve it. In fact, with the complicity of left wing politicians, US Schools seem to have been hijacked and put to use for nearly every purpose except education.

Based on the idea that whatever a liberal politician claims he plans to do, you should expect the opposite, there is no surprise that liberal Senators have made copious use of the techniques of bribery, extortion, and bullying to accomplish their goal of a government takeover of health care.

Flexing their muscles like a school yard pugilist, Senate Democrats this week stooped to third world and eastern bloc techniques to impose their political will on their colleagues, leaving a permanent stain on the United States Senate, once one of the most revered bastions of democracy in the civilized world.

“We’re scared,” said one senior at a rally in Omaha Nebraska, “we don’t know who to turn to.  We feel like the insurance companies and the special interests can just stamp ‘sold’ on Senator Nelson.”

Democrat Giveaways
Cash for cloture In exchange for his cloture vote, Nebraska Senator Nelson got the sweetheart deal of the year. The federal government will dom something for Nebraska that it does for no other state — Nebraska’s expanded Medicaid program will now be fully funded by the federal government FOREVER.
Other special Medicaid payoffs While New England states Massachusetts and Vermont did not get quite the same deal as Nebraska, they also got extra federal help for an anticipated crowd new Medicaid enrollees, leaving the state of New York feeling particularly abused, as NY Governor Patterson and NYC Mayor Bloomber expect that up to a 1 million New Yorkers will sign up for Medicaid once reforms are complete.
$100 million for Connecticut Hospital While not targetted specifically at Senator Chris Dodd (D-Con), the language of the Bill makes it pretty clear no other state meets the requirements. The hospital provision is included in a 383 page packet of changes, submitted by Senate leader Harry Reid, just a day before the cloture vote. The bill provides $100 million for “a health care facility that provides research, inpatient tertiary care, or outpatient clinical services,” and it must be affiliated with an academic health center at a public research university in the United States “that contains a State’s sole public academic medical and dental school.”
Medicare Advantage The bill contains special Medicare Advantage protections for New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
The Louisiana Purchase The state of Louisiana received an extra $300 million in exchange for the help of Louisiana Senator Mary L. Landrieu in bringing the health care bill to the Senate Floor.

The Lastest Senate Health Care Bill

2:03 pm in US Congress by admin

healthcaresign

BACKGROUND:
The 2,733 page Reid Amendment was unveiled Saturday, December 19, 2009. The Senate is expected to vote on the health care bill possibly as early as Christmas Eve, December 24, 2009. The bill:
Cuts Medicare:  $470.7 billion
Increases Taxes:  $518.5 billion
Overall Cost:
o The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) says the gross cost of the insurance coverage expansion is $23 billion higher under the manager’s amendment.
o Federal revenues (mainly because of the payroll tax) increase by about $26 billion.
o All told, the amendment reduces the deficit an additional $2 billion (from $130 billion to $132 billion).
o The $132 billion in deficit reduction is less than the $156 billion deficit for October.  In other words, any possible savings over 10 years of this bill are already erased by the deficit spending in the last month alone.
o CBO said that the range of uncertainty for their estimate outside the 10-year budget window is “quite wide” and “subject to substantial uncertainty.”

The federal cost curve still goes UP:

Under the legislation, federal outlays for health care would increase during the 2010–2019 period, as would the federal budgetary commitment to health care. The net increase would be about $200 billion over that 10-year period.
Coverage:
·      There is a slight increase in coverage, with 23 million left uninsured as opposed to 24 million in the base bill.
Premiums:  Despite the fact that Democrats have said that changes in the manager’s package would improve the delivery system, CBO said that it is likely the amendment would have little impact on premiums.

Unfunded Mandates:  State spending on Medicaid and SCHIP would increase by about $26 billion over the 10 year budget window (up from $23 billion in the earlier bill). Only one state, Nebraska, was given relief from this unfunded mandate.

Reading Guide—Pelosi Health “Reform” Bill

6:54 am in Activist Training & Education, US Congress by admin

Reading Guide—Pelosi Health “Reform” Bill

October 29, 2009

In order to assist Members, staff, and interested parties seeking to read and review the health “reform” legislation (H.R. 3962) introduced by House Democrats, the Republican Conference has compiled a list of important page numbers and provisions in the 1,990-page “Affordable Health Care for America Act:”

Page 94—Section 202(c) prohibits the sale of private individual health insurance policies, beginning in 2013, forcing individuals to purchase coverage through the federal government

Page 110—Section 222(e) requires the use of federal dollars to fund abortions through the government-run health plan—and, if the Hyde Amendment were ever not renewed, would require the plan to fund elective abortions

Page 111—Section 223 establishes a new board of federal bureaucrats (the “Health Benefits Advisory Committee”) to dictate the health plans that all individuals must purchase—and would likely require all Americans to subsidize and purchase plans that cover any abortion

Page 211—Section 321 establishes a new government-run health plan that, according to non-partisan actuaries at theHULewin GroupUH, would cause as many as 114 million Americans to lose their existing coverage

Page 225—Section 330 permits—but does not require—Members of Congress to enroll in government-run health care

Page 255—Section 345 includes language requiring verification of income for individuals wishing to receive federal health care subsidies under the bill—while the bill includes a requirement for applicants to verify their citizenship, it does not include a similar requirement to verify applicants’ identity, thus encouraging identity fraud for undocumented immigrants and others wishing to receive taxpayer-subsidized health benefits

Page 297—Section 501 imposes a 2.5 percent tax on all individuals who do not purchase “bureaucrat-approved” health insurance—the tax would apply on individuals with incomes under $250,000, thus breaking a central HUpromiseUH of then-Senator Obama’s presidential campaign

Page 313—Section 512 imposes an 8 percent “tax on jobs” for firms that cannot afford to purchase “bureaucrat-approved” health coverage; according to an HUanalysisUH by Harvard Professor Kate Baicker, such a tax would place millions “at substantial risk of unemployment”—Uwith minority workers losing their jobs at twice the rate of their white counterparts

Page 336—Section 551 imposes additional job-killing taxes, in the form of a half-trillion dollar “surcharge,” more than half of which will hit small businesses; according to a model developed by President Obama’s senior economic advisor, such taxes could cost up to 5.5 million jobs

Page 520—Section 1161 cuts more than $150 billion from Medicare Advantage plans, potentially jeopardizing millions of seniors’ existing coverage

Page 733—Section 1401 establishes a new Center for Comparative Effectiveness Research; the bill includes no provisions preventing the government-run health plan from using such research to deny access to life-saving treatments on cost grounds, similar to Britain’s National Health Service, which denies patient treatments costing more than £35,000

Page 1174—Section 1802(b) includes provisions entitled “TAXES ON CERTAIN INSURANCE POLICIES” to fund comparative effectiveness research, breaking Speaker Pelosi’s promise that “UWe will not be taxing [health] benefits in any bill that passes the HouseU,” and the President’s promise not to raise taxes on families with incomes under $250,000

Tea Party Patriots Vow Protests of Obama

7:35 pm in US Congress by jenn

By David A. Patton
Newsmax

A Tea Party Patriots leader tells Newsmax the group will greet President Barack Obama with protest rallies each time he makes a public appearance.

The first protest will be Monday evening at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla., where Obama is headlining a Democratic fundraiser.

The grassroots conservative organization has held rallies at previous Obama events to promote its low-tax, small-government agenda. But now it will do so every time the president speaks, according to Everett Wilkinson, a national Tea Party spokesman.

“No matter where the president goes, or where our elected representatives go, whether they be at a fundraiser or any public event, we’re going to be there and we’re going to make our presence known,” Wilkinson tells Newsmax. “We’ll have thousands at some locations, and sometimes, when they try to hide locations from us and do last-minute changes, we may not have as many. But we will have a presence at every single one. They will not be able to keep our voices from being heard.”

Cash From Clunkers Let’s have a $4,500 subsidy for everything.

8:13 am in Economic News, US Congress by Eric

Americans are streaming back into auto showrooms, and one reason is the “cash for clunkers” subsidy. Democrats are naturally claiming this is a great success, while Republicans are claiming that because the program has run out of clunker cash so quickly, this proves government can’t run the health-care system. How do we elect these people? What the clunker policy really proves is that Americans aren’t stupid and will let some other taxpayer buy them a free lunch if given the chance.

The buying spree is good for the car companies, if only for the short term and for certain car models. It’s good, too, for folks who’ve been sitting on an older car or truck but weren’t sure they had the cash to trade it in for something new. Now they get a taxpayer subsidy of up to $4,500, which on some models can be 25% of the purchase price. It’s hardly surprising that Peter is willing to use a donation from his neighbor Paul, midwifed by Uncle Sugar, to class up his driveway.

On the other hand, this is crackpot economics. The subsidy won’t add to net national wealth, since it merely transfers money to one taxpayer’s pocket from someone else’s, and merely pays that taxpayer to destroy a perfectly serviceable asset in return for something he might have bought anyway. By this logic, everyone should burn the sofa and dining room set and refurnish the homestead every couple of years.

It isn’t clear this will even lead to more auto production over time, since the clunker cash may simply cause buyers to move their purchases forward. GDP will get a fillip in the third and perhaps fourth quarters, which will please the Obama Administration. But the test will be if auto sales hold up next year and into the future once the clunker checks go away. The debate over the subsidy may even have prolonged this year’s auto slump as buyers delayed their purchases waiting for the free lunch.  Read More….

House Democrats plan to unveil health bill Tuesday

12:46 pm in US Congress by Eric

By Robert Schroeder, MarketWatch
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — House Democrats are planning to unveil details of a health-care overhaul bill on Tuesday, as President Barack Obama ratchets up pressure on Congress to quickly send him legislation to cover nearly 50 million uninsured Americans and make good on one of his chief campaign goals.

“It is our plan to introduce the legislation tomorrow,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday, though she cautioned it won’t be a finished product.

Pelosi’s office said a press conference has been scheduled for 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Democrats in the House and Senate have been aiming to pass health-care reform bills before their August breaks. Democrats and Obama are attempting to cover the 47 million uninsured Americans, set up a public health insurance option to compete with private insurers and require employers to cover their workers.

Obama discussed health-care reform at the White House on Monday with Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont.

The president is pressing Congress hard to finish work on health-care reform, one of his top domestic priorities.

“Don’t bet against us. We are going to make this thing happen,” he said Monday.

But Republicans have vehemently opposed a public insurance plan and Democrats haven’t settled on how to fund an overhaul. One option, floated by Rangel, would fund reform through taxes on wealthy Americans. But that proposal isn’t getting traction with some moderate Democrats in the House and the Senate, and Republicans are slamming it.

“We don’t need to build on taxes here in a recession,” said Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., on Tuesday in a CNBC interview.

Call these congressmen by July 2 to stop the largest tax bill ever passed by a session of Congress

HR 2454 (CAP & TRADE BILL PASSES)

RECORDED VOTE 26-Jun-2009 7:17 PM
8 Republicans who voted for Cap and Trade

The following republicans voted FOR the largest tax bill ever passed by a session of Congress:

Mary Bono Mack R (CA)
Mike Castle R (DW)
Mark Steven Kirk R (IL)
Leonard Lance R (NJ)
Frank LoBiondo R (NJ)
John McHugh R (NY)
Dave Reichert R (WA)
Chris Smith R (NJ)

The US House of Representatives stealthily passed Cap & Trade just after 7pm eastern on Friday June 24th. They are counting on us not doing anything because it is a weekend and typical vacation week.

They have underestimated the grassroots movement. We will not go quietly into the night.

OBJECTIVE: The 8 Republicans who voted FOR HR 2454 have 5 days to change their votes. We need for individuals to mobile enormous numbers of grassroot Patriots to barrage them. We must get them to change their votes, and the clock is ticking.

Here is what we are asking you to do. We are asking everyone to email, call and write the “8″. Tell them they will NOT be elected again if they do not change their votes and that this is the reason why our party is doomed for failure in the future. We will work tirelessly to get these “officials” out of office. DRAW YOUR LINE IN THE SAND!!!!

Congressman Lummis voted NO for this legislation. She has been a big opponent of the Cap and Trade bill. Please see the video below where she tried to educate the idiots in D.C.

I am calling today to tell Congressman/woman to vote NO on HR 2454

Urgent Action – Cap and Trade VOTE!

1:32 pm in Action Alerts, US Congress by valentina

Glenn Beck said on radio that CONGRESS IS VOTING ON CAP AND TRADE AND CARD CHECK.

We have confirmed with Senator Martinez and Congressman Rooney’s office that Cap and Trade will be voted on in the HOUSE THIS FRIDAY. No confirmation on card check.

Health care show tonight is a RUSE…..without CAP AND TRADE which raises our taxes considerably; universal health care passage will be weakened because it is unaffordable.  I have read and heard that Healthcare will be funded by some or all of Cap and Trade taxes.

We are being played like a Stradivarius!!!  Our attentions diverted from Cap and Trade to the Health care debate.

We can concentrate on Health Care next week……..

WE NEED TO STOP CAP AND TRADE NOW!

Sample Letter

Dear XXXXX:

I urge you to vote no on the Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade bill.  More accurately referred to as “Cap and Tax,” the Waxman-Markey climate legislation is an enormous energy tax that would deal a severe blow to our already shaky economy.

The positive effects of the bill are negligible, but on the other hand the effects it would have on our economy are devastating.

Independent estimates say that families could pay $3,000 more per year on energy and the entire plan would take $2 trillion from our economy in just over eight years.  Numbers like these come at a real cost, not just in terms of my wallet, but in terms of the many, many jobs this legislation gambles with.

I am asking that you oppose this bad piece of legislation. We need a “Common Sense” approach to the environment and this is not it. This is just another appeasement to the environmental lobby. Changing the name of the Bill to ACES does nothing to change another bill no one will read and the “Unintended Consequences” will be felt by the Taxpayer for years to come. STOP, Calm Down, Slow Down this country cannot afford this legislation unless your intentions are to destroy our economy, our lives and our constitution.

Again I urge you to vote NO on the Waxman-Markey climate bill. Please, please listen to “We The People” who are out here working or living on a retirement and trying to survive.

Thank You
