US Open Tennis Official Accused of Beating Husband to Death With Coffee Mug
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. (KTLA) — A high-ranking official on the U.S. professional tennis circuit was arrested Tuesday in New York for allegedly bludgeoning her 82-year-old husband to death with a coffee mug.
Lois Goodman, of Woodland Hills, was in New York preparing to serve as a referee for the U.S.
She’s accused in the April 17 murder of her husband, Alan Frederick Goodman.
The elderly man was found dead at the couple’s home in the 20000 block of Oxnard Street.
Goodman, 70, told police at the time that her husband took a deadly tumble down the stairs.
Investigation, however, revealed that his injuries were more consistent with an attack.
A full homicide investigation ensued, and detectives working with the coroner’s office determined Goodman was murdered, police said.
“It was a homicide. He had multiple sharp-force injuries,” said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.
