I had no idea when I posted this story yesterday that Travis was on his way to the RNC.

Let’s read further.

Randy Travis crashed his car and was found naked and intoxicated, officials said, a day after it was announced he would perform in Tampa for a nonpartisan benefit for veterans during the Republican National Convention.

Hmm. I have a bit more information, but it still sounds like this has something to do with the RNC. Let’s read a bit more.

This week, it was announced that Travis would perform for a private benefit for Got Your 6 on Aug. 29 at the Dallas Bull. Got Your 6 is a nonpartisan organization that helps veterans reintegrate into civilian life. The group plans a similar concert for the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Wait. So if I’m understanding this clearly, Got Your 6 is an organization that has nothing at all to do with the RNC and they are just using the RNC as an opportunity to have lots of people in town with nothing to do at night, so they got booked at an area nightclub, and they will be doing the same during the DNC.

And here I thought that this drunk was going to be performing at the RNC, and when he got the word he loaded up his Trans Am, and himself, and weaved on down the highway, playing with the stick shift even though he’s driving an automatic, and probably shooting a gun in the air, or something.

But people don’t just read headlines. They read the entire story, right?
