For Immediate Release: Tea Party Protesters Demand a Tax Cut, Not Status Quo
(West Palm Beach, Florida) – In response to a protest being activated to tell SFWMD Board Members to vote “NO” on the U.S. Sugar Corporation at South Florida Water Management District’s Budget workshop on July 14th, at 12:00pm, the district issued a press release on July 12th promising to
not raise the millage rate.
“This is a bad deal no matter how it is financed.” Everett Wilkinson, Chair of Florida Tea Party and South Florida Tea Party, “This is the time to cut taxes and help increase the economy, spur growth and increase house values – not keep the same tax and spend path.”
“Charlie Crist has been consistent in that you can never count on anything he promises that is why he feels at home with the Obama and the left. Broken promises to not raise taxes, his flip-flops on
offshore Oil drilling, his stand on abortion, the Education Bill, He embraced the $787 million stimulus plan, now he makes a deal that benefits US Sugar Executives and leaves the Florida residents to foot the bill. Enough is enough end Charlie Crist Bailout!” Nancy Meinhardt, Miami 9/12 Project

“SugarLandDeal.com” is busing activists from Martin, Broward, Miami-Dade, Lee, and Collier counties to attend a protest of Governor Crist’s bailout of the U.S. Sugar Corporation. The buses will be onsite at 11:30am and a press conference will be held at that time at the protest site with coalition members against the bailout. Protesters will demand an end to the bailout and demand a cut in
property taxes.
“This leaves a bad taste in both the taxpayers and environmentalists,” Everett Wilkinson, Chairman of Florida Tea Party and South Florida Tea Party, “and insults our Founding Fathers by taxing us without representation!”
“Crist’s bailout will ultimately cost taxpayers up to twelve billion dollars and will force property taxes to increase. It’s unacceptable.” Jason Hoyt, Tea Party Patriots Live
“This is the Governor’s payback to his top political donor U.S. Sugar Corporation who’s business has been spiraling down. This is just another government bailout of private enterprise and the people of Florida are taking a stand against it.” Phil Russo, The Orlando Tea Party
“At a time when the citizens of Florida are making tough adjustments to today’s brutal economic realities, Charlie Crist insists on sinking responsible families farther into debt by greasing the palms of his favored inner circle. The people of Florida need someone who understands smaller less intrusive government, lower taxes and fiscal discipline not a slick hustler that will mortgage our children’s future for a quick fix and photo op…” Marcos Sendon, Editor
sflaconservative.com
“We should be lowering the millage rate! Stop spending, this bad deal is not urgent and not necessary right now. Why are we spending money we don’t have?’ Cindy Lucas Martin County 9/12 Tea Party Committee.
“Charlie Crist has placed the taxpayers of 16 counties and countless communities in cross hairs of higher taxes. While Charlie was campaigning as a self proclaimed conservative, his policies of raising fees and assessments and Corporate welfare place all Floridians at risk. Stand with us to fight Governor Crist’s wrong-headed use of taxpayer’s money! Join the fight against bigger government and bad judgment!” FreedomWorks.org State Director, Tom Gaitens
“This is just a ploy to get us to back down. We will not back down. We will not be silent. We will be there at the time the agenda starts – 12:00pm – and demand to be heard.” Robin Stublen, Punta Gorda Tea Party
“We were told in advance doors would open at the budget workshop at 12:00pm. Once they heard concerned citizens would be attending and voicing their opinions about another bailout put on the backs of taxpayers, they decided to close us out. This is Chicago and Washington politics as usual and this unelected body is promoting taxation without representation. Florida officials should be held to a higher standard.” Jason Hoyt, Tea Party Patriots Live.
